A first eCommerce site for the UK’s number 1 excavator supplier, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi.
As a long-time client of Inspired, HM Plant asked us to help them take their first steps into eCommerce. The challenge lay in understanding HM Plant’s range of excavator parts and products, and turning into a digital reality which would effectively reach their customer base – many of whom are based on sites or in remote locations.
We built a dynamic new eCommerce site, with a fully responsive design and a complete backend management system. A big element of the site’s development lay in creating an intelligent matching system, which can take any model of Hitachi excavator and recommend appropriate filters, tracks and undercarriages for that machine. We also introduced a range of novelty products – highly popular due to HM Plant’s sports sponsorship activities.
HM Plant’s eCommerce site has opened up a whole new sales channel for them, and received praise from across the Hitachi group. The m-commerce aspect has enabled them to reach many of their customers who previously would have had to place orders via phone or fax.
